The invitational event also marks the first of the multi-stop Burton Global Event Series, and the second consecutive year Cardrona will host the competition.

Tuesday, September 16th — Off-Snow Team Activities

This year, the event will start with a team selection party on September 15th. In true High Fives fashion, the details of the team selection will be kept a secret from the riders until they arrive on-site in New Zealand. On September 16th, the newly formed teams will take part in surprise off-hill activities that will take them through the surrounding Wanaka area. The good times will be captured on video so fans can watch all the action at home.
Next up, the classic snowboarding competition portion of Burton High Fives takes center stage with world-class men’s and women’s slopestyle and halfpipe contests on September 19th and 20th. The field will be packed with the sport’s best riders, including Olympians Stale Sandbech, Ayumu Hirano, Jamie Anderson and Kaitlyn Farrington, plus some of the world’s best up and coming rookies. To celebrate and support New Zealand’s homegrown talent, four Kiwi riders will also be selected to compete in this year’s event. The competition format is best of three runs, and judges will focus on overall impression as riders compete for an USD $80,000 purse prize.

The on-snow portion of the event is free and open to the public. A lift ticket may be required for the best viewing location. For those not in New Zealand, Burton High Fives will be available to watch via an exclusive webcast that will be delayed, allowing for optimal airtimes for fans to watch worldwide. Additionally, the competition will be televised worldwide, so stay tuned for those details.
